Religious Education
In RE at St Bernard’s we learn about God and His relationship with humanity. We are God’s creation, He loves us and calls us into a relationship with Him. This includes learning about the Bible (His words to us), the history of the Church and how the Catholic church (us) are at work in the world. As we do so, we make connections to the world that we live in, so that it might be relevant to the lives of the boys in front of us.
Learning about all of this is the reason that St Bernard’s exists. Otherwise we would just be Waterloo Road High School for boys. We are not. The RE team here loves this awesome responsibility, of introducing and affirming the faith of our boys and helping them learn more about God’s church and how they might be able to bring what they learn, to life, in their own lives.
At SBC we try to introduce the person of Jesus Christ to our boys. We attempt to do this authentically so that they may come to know Him better. We are blessed too, to have a curriculum that explores the fullness of our faith, so that we are fully informed about the teachings of the Church, from Judaism (the faith of Jesus) to the Eucharist and outwards into our world.
It’s challenging, exciting and awesome.
Blessings,
