Hard Materials, Food, Electronics & DVC
Technology at St Bernard’s involves various area’s of learning.
Year 7 to 10 Technology covers Hard Materials, Design & Visual Communication ( DVC aka Graphics), Electronics and Foods.
Students rotate between the different subject areas so by the end of year 10 they have a good knowledge of Technology.
Our Technology block is very well resourced and is a modern learning environment with its own computer suite to assist with E learning.
The Technology curriculum learning areas cover Technological Practice, Technological Knowledge and The Nature of Technology.
Students studying Technology at senior level obtain the skills and knowledge to be able to continue their education in this area at Tertiary level.
Students are encouraged to include aspects of their cultural background when completing design assignments.
We have a well-equipped workshop facility with all the necessary machinery and hand tools a student will need.
Hard Materials incorporates building Design skills and practical ability using various hand tools and machines.
DVC focuses on Design and presentation skills to communicate design ideas, SBC has seen a vast improvement over the last 2 years in the achievement levels of our senior students in this area.
Food Technology offers a variety of subject knowledge including food safety and food preparation.
